Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
MAP offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to Year 10 students and above.
This is a challenging programme of activities aimed at young people aged 14 years and over; it will help students to learn new skills, to help others and to experience adventure, as well as giving our students a great sense of achievement.
Students achieve their Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if they’re going for Gold) - Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential. Students will find themselves helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only). Students get to choose what they do.
Their programme can be full of activities and projects that get them buzzing, and along the way they’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award was founded in 1956 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh who remains the Patron.

Our Gold student have been working hard preparing for their D of E award reading and deciphering MAPS. We were really proud that 5 students in the Sixth form achieved gold last year and 4 are well on their way to bronze – well above national averages.
