The multi-million pound redevelopment of Marine Academy Plymouth is an important catalyst for the regeneration of the local area, helping to raise attainment levels and aspirations of both its students and the local community.

The brand new Post 16 Centre is a key part of the vision for MAP as the academy builds the confidence and ambitions of its young people.

The whole site has been re-orientated to give a dramatic and inspirational view of the sea.

The academy’s central vision is to provide an all age campus for lifelong learners at the centre of an engaged, regenerated community.

The designated Post 16 Centre will provide a separate facility for our Post 16 students to study, to meet with tutors and to socialise and relax.  All areas will be interactive and provide facilities for independent study.

MAP is committed to preparing students for independent, adult life and therefore our students are fully involved with the whole college and the wider community.

Our students are role models and leaders across every aspect of academy life; they act as mentors, support teaching and learning in the lower school, the primary school and in the nursery.

They are elected ambassadors in the wider, political life of the city and they are active and vocal in the leadership of the academy as a whole, meeting with the Principal, the Senior Leadership Team and with governors in order to share views on how to broaden and deepen the student experience.
