At Marine Academy Nursery, we recognise that the first years of a child's life are the most important. We understand the importance of providing an environment that is stimulating, fun and secure which will enable your child to access challenging and exploratory activities in a safe space. In June 2017 Marine Academy Nursery underwent a major refurbishment in order to create a light an airy environment where children are free to learn in a way which best suits their developmental needs and interests. The new large washable floor means that children can get creative without limitations.
For our younger babies, we have an soft and cosy carpeted floor where they are free to crawl and learn to walk safely and for babies who are not yet mobile we have a designated space where they can have essential ‘tummy time’ which is so important in helping to build strength in backs, legs arms and necks. The natural décor and sensory area create a relaxing, calm feel but above all, a high ratio of qualified staff give the individual attention, cuddles, reassurance, presence and continuity your child needs to feel safe and secure.
At lunchtime, all children at Marine Academy Nursery are provided with a complimentary, hot, freshly cooked meal; we have a weaning option for babies who are at the earlier stages of their development and we can cater for individual dietary needs. Lunchtime is a social event where all children eat together and are encouraged to develop independence and confidence in feeding themselves and using cutlery.
We have a cosy and quiet sleep room with cots and small beds for babies and toddlers who need to rest; we provide each child with their own set of clean bedding each day. Please discuss your child’s sleep pattern with us so that we can continue with your own routine whilst in our care.
Toilets and Changing
We have a designated nappy changing area and purpose built child-height toilets and wash basins for children to develop independence and confidence. We can assist with potty training and are happy to discuss this with you in order to achieve a successful transition from nappies to the potty.
When outdoors, children have the freedom to explore and develop their physical boundaries, to take risks and to discover the real world with all of their senses. This can have huge positive effects on a child’s self- esteem and confidence. At Marine Academy Nursery, we recognise that outside can be liberating; children have room to be active, noisy, messy and work on a large scale which is why we access the outside as much as possible every day. We have two outside learning environments directly outside of the Nursery and we have unlimited access to the Primary site which is home to our chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and of course our Academy dog Watson.
