Year 9 Religious Studies: The Building Stronger Britain Together project.
Year 9 have been learning about living in a multicultural society this term and were lucky enough to be visited by the Amber initiatives team. The aim of the project is to help build personal resilience to racism, religious hate crime and other discriminations and get students to have a positive sense of identity. During the sessions students were encouraged to think for themselves and therefore hopefully gain the awareness to challenge discriminatory behaviour when safe to do so.
The Building Stronger Britain Together project wants to stimulate young people to identify social problems and consequently try and solve them. In this way young people will be able to realise that they can change their community and influence society as a whole. All of the year 9 classes responded fantastically well to these sessions and there was an enormous amount of positive feedback as a result. Well done year 9!
