Community Football Programme

Community Football Programme

The Marine Academy Plymouth (MAP) football network is amongst the largest and most successful in the South West and was voted by the Football Association as the charter standard club of the year for the South West region for 2013, and Plymouth Herald’s Community Club of the Year 2014 recognising the clubs commitment to providing structure off the pitch and opportunities on it.

The various community sessions: introduction to football programme, Coaching School and competing teams ensure both girls and boys have a fantastic opportunity to learn and play the ‘beautiful game’ at MAP.

The courses are directed by qualified MAP Sports Manager Darren Stewart UEFA/FA qualified coach and a former apprentice with Portsmouth FC who has also previously coached and managed at Plymouth Argyle’s Centre of Excellence, Plymouth Schools FA and Manchester United Soccer Schools.

The delivery of the sessions by our team of qualified FA level 2/Module 2 coaches led by MAP Sports Assistant Samantha Drewery are specifically modified to suit all ages and abilities, ensuring fun and active participation, but recognise the commitment for participants to play as part of a team and as an individual. A factor that is acknowledged by professional clubs who offer our players contracts, every season.
The MAP Football Club network has enjoyed unprecedented success in local leagues, cup and county competitions and is now firmly looking forward to a new era of success.
Please take a look at the various community, coaching and team pages for ages that apply, and get in contact with us, we look forward to meeting you.

Marine Academy Plymouth Football Club Coaching School

The Soccer Coaching School selects  players from the ‘Introduction to Football Programme’ and community sessions  who we feel would benefit from additional coaching, and have both the ability and maturity to adapt to a more structured approach to learning. The emphasis in these sessions is very much on players’ individual techniques and appreciation of team play

The soccer school provides MAP Juniors and Kings sides with their junior teams at under 6s, 7s and 8s levels, before becoming part of the Club structure at under 9s. The sides produced, have consistently been amongst the best sides in the South West over recent years. Not only do players attend the coaching sessions, they have the opportunity to play ‘friendly’ fixtures and enter tournaments. We even have our own separate presentation event every 2 seasons to reward players for their enthusiasm and dedication to training. The players wear the MAP Coaching training kit, which is available from Hoppy’s Sports (next to CDS) or from the club shop on www.directsoccer.co.uk
